Now even after facing backlash over its new privacy policy, WhatsApp rolled out an interesting disappearing messages feature that gives users the option of having their messages automatically disappear after seven days. Users can turn on the feature for each chat individually. We will tell you how to turn on and use this ‘disappearing messages’ feature on this app.

According to WhatsApp, users can send messages that disappear on the app by enabling disappearing messages. Once enabled, new messages sent in the individual or group chat will disappear after seven days. The most recent selection controls all messages in the chat. This setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat.

In an individual chat, either user can turn disappearing messages on or off. In a group chat, only group admins can turn disappearing messages on or off, the Facebook-owned messaging app said. If a user doesn’t open WhatsApp in the seven-day period, the message will disappear. However, the preview of the message might still be displayed in notifications until WhatsApp is opened.

Here’s how to turn disappearing messages on or off: Android, iPhone, Web and Desktop:

First, open the WhatsApp on any device you have and then pen the chatbox of the desired contact. Tap on the contact’s name. Now, you need to scroll down and tap on the ‘Disappearing messages’ option. Tap on ‘Continue> On’. Option. This feature will be enabled on your device.
